This Alice Brightsky album came to me at the perfect time. It’s been rainy, dreary, and overall pretty dull around these parts lately. Winter seems to be gone, and spring still seems to be weeks away. We are in that murky transition period right now.
Alice Brightsky’s “Box Of Me” is the perfect moody, sultry, and lyrical soundtrack to these darker days. Alice has a gorgeous and soulful voice. The lyrics are heartfelt and genuine, and the whole album is quite pleasant.
Parts of it remind me of Kate Nash, while other parts sound like Joni Mitchell. It’s great, and the lead single off the album “Up Up and Away” is a great taste of Alice’s sound.
Bottom Line: This is a really pretty album that is the perfect soundtrack to your dreary ‘smarch‘ day.
