Hamilton’s Jamsquid have just put out their third album – called 3.0. This album can best be described as Grunge. Remember, grunge? I do. I loved grunge until bands like Nickeback and I Mother Earth came along to take a big crap on Canadian alternative rock music.

Actual grunge music has sort of become an endangered species in the rock game. There are plenty of rock bands who lean towards stadium rock, prog rock, punk, shoe gaze, etc. It is rare to find a band that does grunge music as well as Jamsquid. The guys worked with respected producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, The Police, etc) and the big classic rock sound is definitely noticeable on this record.

3.0 is the most polished album that Jamsquid have put out. The song writing is solid and the production value is high. That grungy, sludgy, mood permeates each track thanks to tight arrangements and really solid guitar work. Lead singer Zack Cassuccio has the perfect voice for grunge.

If you like rock, or grunge, or guys with adult facial hair, check out the latest from Jamsquid. They are celebrating the release of 3.0 this Saturday at The Casbah in Hamilton.
